Celebration of Life for Emily Allaby Funeral Service
Emily (Edna) Henrietta Allaby March 16.1922- April 30, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Emily (Edna) Allaby announce her passing at the age of 99 years old. She passed away at her home, The Briarlea Senior’s Residence on the Gorge Road in Moncton, N.B. Emily was born and grew up in London, England. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Harriet (Hope) Spain. During World War 11 she joined a division of the Royal Air Force called the WAAF or the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force until 1945. It was during this time she met and married her husband Spurgeon Allaby who was a Sargent in the RCAF. Emily became a War Bride and followed her husband to Bloomfield, Kings County, Canada in 1945. Emily was a caring, compassionate person who loved her husband and children very much. Whatever she did she tried to do her best. She had a keen sense of justice and a person always knew where they stood with her. Emily also had a forgiving nature. After her children had grown up she decided to study nursing and after graduating worked for several years taking care of seniors. Emily was a highly creative woman, a great seamstress, loved gardening and interior decorating. She was predeceased by her husband Spurgeon in 2010 and infant son Nigel David in 1967. After her husband’s death Emily moved to the Briarlea Seniors Residence, Emily found an extended family of wonderful, caring people who brought a lot of fun and laughter, compassion to her life. They called her Mum and she called them Daughters. She loved reading her Bible and her churches literature. Emily is survived by her children; Barry of Halifax, Allison of Moncton, Stephanie (Bryan) Hubbard of Moncton, Peter Stuart of Calgary. Grandchildren; Lisa (Shawn) Waugh of Moncton, Andrew (Tanya) of Ontario, Julie Hubbard of Moncton, Peggy Ann Allaby (Medwechuk) of Ontario and Brandt Allaby (wife) of Ontario. Also survived by her great grandchildren, Skylar, Logan and Landon Medwechuk of Ontario, Raelyn Hubbard of Ontario, Jacob, and Kieran Waugh of Moncton. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Emily will also be missed by “the Best little dog there ever was” Sammy”. “I can no longer see you with my Eyes, but I will feel you in my Heart Forever”. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. A Celebration of Emily’s life will follow in the chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dr. Martin Kreplin officiating. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery.
